- Create a budget- It's very easy to get carried away. By creating a budget you can prioritize and not break the bank.
- Start planning early- You can never start too early. There will always be unexpected things pop up at the last minute. The more you can do ahead of time the better prepared you will be.
- Stay organized and make a checklist- Having a solid plan will keep you on track and will save you from the dreaded "crunch time" which will be a huge stress relief.
- Keep menu simple- It's ok to take a few shortcuts. Ordering a desert from a local bakery for example, will free you up to spend more time with your guests.
- Give yourself plenty of time to setup- set up always takes longer than you think. It's a great idea to start the day before. That way, on the day of your event you can focus on the finishing touches.
- Enlist help- You have friends for a reason so why not take them up on their offer to help set up or bring an appetizer. It also makes the process more fun!
- Serve one specialty cocktail- You don't want to spend your time behind the bar. You can even give your specialty cocktail a fun theme name. Pre mix in pitchers and your guests will be able to serve themselves. You can offer this alongside beer and/or wine.
- Create ambience - This can be done with music, flowers and candles. It will bring life and warmth to your gathering.
